New AWD South Chair

We are thrilled to WELCOME Tomeka Winborne to the position of Chair for the AWD South branch! Having served this year as Co-Chair, the transition has been seamless as Tomeka continues to bring her innovative ideas and a vigorous work ethic to AWD (she also serves as the Chair of AWD’s Black Directors Advancement Initiative!).

Tomeka was introduced to AWD, and Chaun Pinkston, by Emeritus Board Member member Jan Reesman. Hitting it off with Chaun immediately, Tomeka quickly joined AWD Atlanta’s Leadership Committee (now AWD South), focusing on bringing awareness of the organization to Atlanta’s metro area.

As for her new role as Chair, Tomeka looks forward to continuing “the beautiful work that Chaun started; while implementing new ideas to fulfill AWD’s mission for our Southern Directors.” She is excited about seeing AWD South create new industry relationships and partnerships, grow their membership and create opportunities for their directors. “I’m excited to build a great sisterhood with our AWD South Directors. It’s important that we have space to lean on one another to support our journeys as directors.” — Tomeka

In her professional life, Tomeka’s goal is to be an episodic television director. She is currently developing her first feature film to direct. (photo credit Gladys Edeh)
