After screening at over 40 film festivals worldwide, AWD Member Natalie Jasmine Harris‘s short film Pure was acquired by HBO and HBOMax and is now available to stream. The film will also broadcast live on HBO throughout Black History Month and Women’s History Month. Pure centers on Celeste, a seventeen-year-old closeted poet, who experiences an unexpected new love on the eve of her cotillion ball that shifts her role in the traditional rite of passage ceremony.
Niki Koss
AWD Member Niki Koss recently signed on to direct the Tubi Original Feature Crushed. The film stars Bebe Wood and Brenna D’Amico. Other members of the cast include Matty Cardarople, Kylee Russell, Nicholas Alexander Chavez and more. Crushed – written by Heidi Lux and produced by Stan Spry at Cartel – is a high school comedy about the inevitable angst that comes with your first high school crush.
