Shayna Connelly is a Chicago-based filmmaker whose films explores liminality and the boundaries between documentary, experimental and fiction filmmaking. Her recent features a collection of eight shorts called A Memory Palace of Ghosts about ghosts that arise from traumatic events, mental illness, everyday routines, the search for truth and the aftermath of grief. These hauntings result in a questioning of her identities as feminist, mother and artist. Films from the series have screened at over 200 festivals including Ann Arbor, Athens International, Palm Springs ShortFest, Sydney Underground, San Diego Underground, Oxford Film Festival, Antimatter, Brooklyn Film Festival and Chicago Feminist Film Festival. They have won awards at Chicago Underground, Ithaca Fantastik, IC Docs, Big Muddy, Women in Horror Film Festival, The Artists Forum Festival and Cinepocalypse among others. Newcity Magazine twice named her one of Chicago's 50 Screen Gems.
