Lisa Cole is a performer-turned-writer-director based in Los Angeles. Originally from Hot Springs, Arkansas, she lived with 201 host families across 12 countries before finding her voice transforming true stories into fierce narratives of survival and female empowerment.

Her short film "Bienvenidos a Los Angeles" was Oscar-shortlisted in 2024, won the Diversity in Cannes Short Film Showcase (sponsored by Viola Davis), and streams on Kanopy worldwide. Lisa is a 2025 Alliance of Women Directors Rising Director Fellow with mentorship from Niki Caro.

Current projects include "Diamond Girls" with Selena Gomez and Oscar-winning producer Laura Bickford, and her new short "Filthy," winner of the inaugural Female Film Club Global Fund - featuring Emmy winner Loretta Devine. Her feature screenplay of the same title recently scored an “8” on The Black List.

A fellow of The Writers Lab 2025, Final Draft/Stowe Story Labs, Cine Qua Non, and The Athena Lab, Lisa began her career in documentary work directing for Viacom, A&E, BET, The Gates Foundation, and the Sundance Institute. She serves on the board of the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival and lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two teens and five pets. Yes, five.
