Leah Yananton’s debut feature Surviving Me: The Nine Circles of Sophie, stars Vincent Piazza (Boardwalk Empire), Mira Furlan (Lost), Fredric Lehne (Lost) and Christine Ryndak as “Sophie,” and premiered at the ArcLight Hollywood as an Official Selection of the Hollywood Film Festival, the Beverly Hills La Femme Film Festival, Beloit International Film Festival, USC’s Outside-the-Box-Office Film Festival, and the 2017 New Filmmakers Festival at the Anthology Film Archives in New York City.

Yananton’s professional film experience began in the camera department on Spike Lee’s Bamboozled, Marc Levin’s Brooklyn Babylon, and on The Chris Rock Show. She went on to travel the globe working on documentaries for HBO, National Geographic, and the Discovery Channel. She also worked on Steven Spielberg’s War Of The Worlds starring Tom Cruise and worked on The Secret Window starring Johnny Depp.

Yananton was awarded grants from New York Foundation for the Arts & The Fund for Creative Communities to make the documentary Manhattanville: A Neighborhood Under Siege, chronicling Columbia University’s controversial expansion into West Harlem. Manhattanville premiered at the Harlem Film Festival, and continues to be screened by the Columbia community and West Harlem neighborhood to facilitate dialogue.

Leah Yananton is based in L.A. & often enjoys participating in storytelling shows.
