Laramie Dennis is a director and writer determined to tell honest, unexpected stories about complex female characters. In January 2022, she completed principal photography on WHERE IN THE HELL, an unlikely road movie set in a not-quite-post-pandemic world, developed with Pipeline Media. This marks her feature film directing debut. Another feature project, LIFE ON sMARS, inspired by a real-life NASA experiment, earned her a spot at THROUGH HER LENS: The Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program, along with a grant from The Tribeca Film Institute; with sMARS, Laramie made finalist for the WIF Production Program, the SFFILM Sloan Fellowship, and the TFI Sloan Filmmaker Fund. With GIRL PRETENDING TO READ RILKE, her adaptation of an offbeat coming-of-age novel by her mother, she made finalist in Script Pipeline’s Screenwriting Competition. Her shorts have screened at venues including the Vancouver International Film Festival and the Short Film Corner at Cannes, and have been presented/distributed by Boyish, Shorts International, and Sprint. Laramie got her start Off-Off-Broadway, where she spent a decade directing and developing new plays, most notably at Jim Simpson and Sigourney Weaver's Flea Theater, and at "the downtown powerhouse" Soho Rep. She attended Wesleyan University, and USC.
