Jessie Lee Mills is a filmmaker, stage director, deviser, and intimacy director. She directs, adapts, and consults on film, theater, and opera in venues throughout the United States and internationally. She received her MFA in Directing from Carnegie Mellon University and is a John Wells Fellow. She is an Associate Professor of Theatre at Pomona College. Her scholarship centers on ensemble-theatre, empathy, and comedy-as-community.

As a filmmaker, Mills has directed two award-winning narrative short films: Polyamor-ish and Fall to Fame. Both shorts were licensed for distribution (Polyamor-ish: iVox TV; Fall to Fame: Dekkoo Streaming). She is in preproduction for two upcoming narrative shorts: This is a Story about Love, which centers around motherhood, race, and disability, as well as Inherit, which centers around motherhood and terminal illness. She is attached to co-direct her feature debut, A Simple Act of Violence, produced by Myriad Pictures.
