Elaine Del Valle is an award-winning director, writer, producer, and CSA casting director celebrated for bold, emotionally charged storytelling that champions Latino and female voices. A proud Puerto Rican from Brooklyn’s Brownsville neighborhood, Elaine began as an actress before stepping behind the camera to tell the stories she never saw growing up.
Her feature film Brownsville Bred—based on her acclaimed stage play and memoir—marks the first feature she has both written and directed. Premiering to critical acclaim and currently rated 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, it stands as the only Latina-directed live-action narrative feature to
achieve Oscar eligibility through theatrical distribution in 2025.
A WarnerMedia 150 Artist and AWD Latinx Directing Fellow, Elaine received the HBO Latinx Director Award for her short Princess Cut—as well as licensing deals from HBO for both Princess Cut and her short Me 3.769. She made history as the first person to license an interstitial series to HBO (Gran’pa Knows Best) & produced 3 Sundance premieres.
Her original pilot The System was bought by CBS, and as a CSA casting director, she recently earned an Artios Award nomination for her work on the hit animated series Alma’s Way—with the ceremony set for February 2026.
Elaine’s work—supported by the Latino Film Institute and the NYC Women’s Fund—fearlessly commits to truth, depth and humanity.
