Find a Director
Cindy Baer is an award-winning director, producer and writer. She began her career at the Boston Children’s Theater as an actress at the age of 14, and appeared in over two dozen stage plays before she discovered her passion for filmmaking. Her feature directing and producing debut PURGATORY HOUSE was an afterlife fantasy entirely written by a 14-year-old at-risk girl Cindy mentored in the Big Sisters of Los Angeles Program. A critical darling, it screened at 25 festivals, won 12 awards, received 2 Prism Award nominations, and was included on several critics’ lists for “Best Films of the Year” before receiving distribution by Image Entertainment. Cindy’s second feature ODD BRODSKY, (a quirky comedy about chasing your dreams) criss-crossed the country screening at 30 festivals and winning 20 festival awards. Cindy also directs short films, music videos, and behind-the-scenes featurettes. She appears on filmmaking panels across the country, where she speaks as an expert on low-budget filmmaking. Cindy is a member of AWD, Film Fatales and SAG-AFTRA. She lives in Los Angeles with her cinematographer husband Matthew Irving.
