Chantelle James is an Australian born award-winning filmmaker based in Austin, Texas. After earning her Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts, Acting, at the Actors Center Australia, Chantelle moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film and TV. It was in LA that she wrote, produced and starred in her first short film, Ordinary, discovering her love and passion for filmmaking. She moved to Austin, TX in 2019 and launched production company Lady Alchemist Films in 2020.

Film projects that Chantelle has produced have screened at international film festivals including the Academy Award Qualifying St Kilda Film Festival, as well as Venice Shorts, Melbourne Indie Film Festival, Hill Country Film Festival, Black Bear Film Festival, and Catalina Film Festival.

The short film ‘A Thousand Times a Day’, that she wrote, directed, and produced, has screened at over 20 film festivals winning the Director's Choice Award at Austin Revolution Film Festival 2023, the Festival Treasure Award at Catalina Film Festival 2023, a Gold Remi Award at WorldFest-Houston International Film Fest 2023, the Best Cinematography Short award at Waco Film Festival 2023, the Best Texas Short award at Topaz Film Festival 2023, and Best Editor at Austin Spotlight Film Festival 2023.

Chantelle served on the board of Women in Film and Television, Austin as Podcast Chair 2021 - 2023.
