Raissa Contreras is a filmmaker and artist in Baltimore. She has an MA in Film and Video from Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA in Painting from University of New Mexico.

She has taught film and media studies in the Electronic Media and Film Dept. at Towson University and art and art history at Maryland Institute College of Art, Towson Univ. and Goucher College.

She directs, shoots, and edits her films and they have screened nationally & internationally including at the historic Grauman's Chinese Theatre, the Anthology Film Archives, MoMA, and the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art. Her awards include Best Female Director, Best Cinematography for Short Documentary, the Special Jury Award and the Audience Award. Her most recent film, The Bel Loc Diner, is still in circulation and just screened on demand with the Flickfair Film Fest. It slated to screen with the Prague Int'l Film Fest in 2022. Jaime & the Tamales recently screened with the Swedish Int'l Film Fest and the Fisura Experimental Film Fest in Mexico. Other festivals include the Bushwick FF, Hell's Kitchen FF, Silver State FF, Reykjavik Int'l FF, Southern Colorado FF, Golden State FF, Puerto Madero FF, L' Age d'Or Arthouse FF, Silicon Beach FF, Marina del Rey FF, Fest de Cinema du Paris, Miami Int'l FF, Golden Gate FF, Experiments in Cinema, the Screening Room, UK, & the Short Film Corner at Cannes.
