The Alliance of Women Directors (AWD) Virtual Readings Program is an ongoing series of staged readings over Zoom, devised to get scripts to the next level with feedback from members, industry professionals and invited guests.
Program emphasis is on:
- Strengthening community between AWD Directing and Ally Members
- Providing constructive feedback
- Building industry exposure
Readings will be held quarterly. Each event will feature excerpts of scripts from 2-3 writers. The readings will be performed by actors and directed by assigned AWD Directors. After each performance, there will be a short Q&A with the writer and director. Following the session, participants will receive a survey and be asked to provide additional feedback.
How to participate:
AWD Ally and Directing Members can submit their scripts for participation. Actors do not need to be AWD Members. All potential participants should fill out this form. Selections will happen on a rolling basis as spots open.
Emails to attend will be sent ahead of each event to AWD Directing and Ally Members in good standing. Additionally, once the evening is announced, members can register by logging into their account and RSVPing through the calendar.
A link for inviting industry guests will be provided to actors, writers, and directors who participate.
