A native of Washington, DC, Tatiana Blackington James was born with wanderlust and a fascination with other cultures. She double-majored in French and Russian at New York University and worked her way through graduate school at the University of Southern California by teaching French at the undergraduate level. Tatiana writes about the intersection of the personal and the political, including screenplays on Mata Hari for Universal Pictures, Albert Einstein for HBO, and the award-winning films, THE NARROWS, HOMOLOGIES and most recently, LAWYERED UP, her directorial debut. Current projects include a series on the writer Anaïs Nin, an adaptation of the novel, An Unexpected Guest, by Anne Korkeakivi, and the one-hour drama, Jackpot, an original series about a disgraced doctor who develops a cure for addiction.

A former dancer, Tatiana has served as Board Chair for everybodydancela and on the Advisory Board of the Glorya Kaufman School of Dance at USC. She lives in Santa Monica with two jindo-corgi rescue dogs and her husband, Todd James. They have two extremely witty sons, Nico and Luke, who keep them humble.
