Sydnee Ackiss
Sydnee Ackiss is a writer-director specializing in character-driven storytelling that blends horror, humor, and emotional realism. A lifelong fan of horror cinema, she is particularly drawn to making the genre feel unsettling and intimate again, grounded in human vulnerability, grief, and the quiet fears that linger beneath the surface.
Her work often explores themes of loss, connection, and unfinished business through supernatural and creature-driven narratives. Sydnee’s creature short Amphibian screened at numerous film festivals, and one of her creature films was a winner at the Cannes World Film Festival. Across her projects, she favors practical concepts, strong thematic cores, and emotionally resonant storytelling that allows genre elements to deepen character rather than overshadow it.
Sydnee develops and directs original short films, feature projects, and series concepts, with a focus on elevated horror, ghost stories, and genre narratives that balance suspense with heart. She previously co-owned and ran a production company for three years before stepping down to focus fully on her directing career.
Whether working in horror or other genres, Sydnee aims to tell stories that linger with audiences creepy, human, and emotionally honest while pushing genre storytelling toward deeper, more personal territory.
