Renée Wilson:
Award-winning director, writer, and performer Renée Wilson works in film, television and theatre and made her film debut portraying Raelette Pat Lyle in the Academy Awarding - winning film “Ray” starring Jamie Foxx and Regina King. Renée directed and produced the documentary “Crepe Covered Sidewalks" about her home town of New Orleans post Hurricane Katrina— which was the centerpiece film of The New Orleans International Human Rights Film Festival and won her the Best New Filmmaker award at the Peachtree Village International Film Festival in Atlanta. Renée’s film work has been generously supported by The Nation, One Foundation, Aepoch Fund, Panta Rhea Foundation, Quinti Fund/Tides Foundation, and many individual donors. Her new short film “Ode To Joy”(2022), a two-part intimate paean to Mother Earth, ancestry, and women’s creative powers is currently screening at festivals and she is co-producing “SARA” a Black woman led sci-fi drama feature— a current selected project in the 2022 Stowe Story Labs Remote Writers Retreat. Renée is in development with her two short narrative films “HoneyPot” and “Again”, a Cinequest Screenwriting Competition semi-finalist which delves into healing generational trauma told through the protagonists remembrance of a past life experience of slavery. Wilson graduated from Tulane University with a BA in Communication.
