Kameishia Wooten is an award-winning filmmaker, writer, and director dedicated to bold, inclusive, and socially impactful storytelling. A Los Angeles–based creative with Southern roots, she crafts character-driven narratives that explore identity, resilience, and underrepresented experiences.

She has written and directed seven short films, including Choices, her Oscar-qualified short that has screened at over 50 film festivals across six countries and four continents. The film has earned Best Short Film (Roadmaps Shorts Competition), the Audience Award (Black Women Cinema Week), Best Cast (Diversity at Cannes and Bridgeport Film Festival), and honors from Activist Without Borders (UK) and Black Cinema Berlin.

Her feature screenplay, Your Secret Is Safe With Me, received NFMLA’s New Narratives Grant and was a semifinalist for the Academy Gold Fellowship for Women and a finalist for the Sundance Impact Residency. She also developed Destiny’s Road, selected for the Sundance Financing Intensive and Stowe Story Lab.

A WIF Directing Fellow (supported by Netflix) and Ryan Murphy Half Initiative Directing Fellow, she holds an MFA from Columbia College Chicago and a BA from UNC Chapel Hill. She currently works in business affairs at Netflix Animation, supporting and championing storytelling that entertains the world.
