Born and raised in Newark, Hakima Benjamin is an independent film writer, director, and producer whose work explores the hidden struggles behind seemingly “perfect” lives. She co-produced the award-winning short film Zahra and the Oil Man and has collaborated with fellow writers to develop several television pilots focused on complex human experiences and emotional truth.
Her experience across multiple production roles—including 1st Assistant Director, Script Supervisor, and Unit Production Manager—has shaped her understanding of storytelling from both creative and operational perspectives. She contributed to three independent films in these capacities, all of which debuted on the 2022–2023 film festival circuit.

In 2022, Hakima wrote, directed, and produced the short film CALL END, which toured the festival circuit and earned six awards along with six nominations. She later completed principal photography on her second short film, ALoNE, in September 2023, and the project is touring the film festivals.

Her work is rooted in a deep commitment to exploring the human condition through stories that challenge perceptions, spark dialogue, and inspire change, particularly within women and BIPOC communities.
