Ebony Blanding is a writer, director, and creative leader with deep Southern roots, telling stories that explore Blackness, female relationships, and self-discovery through narrative, experimental, and documentary film.

Her short film Jordan won the 2022 SeriesFest Level Forward Impact Award and earned a development deal for its bold storytelling and dedication to underrepresented and alternatively abled voices.

She has directed branded content for Time and Rolling Stone, documentaries for major artists, and award-winning shorts including Levitate Levitate Levitate, streaming at Atlanta International Airport. Her commissioned period piece, Georgia Voting Rights, plays in the Georgia State Capitol.

Co-founder of House of June, Ebony has presented work at Spelman College, Emory University, and Johns Hopkins University, with recognition from SXSW, the Atlanta Film Society, and Cape Town International Film Festival.

A 2024 Emerging Creative Residency Program Fellow at Trilith Institute, she serves as the institute’s first Emerging Creative in Residence. Her feature debut, A Mess of Memories, is Trilith Institute Productions’ inaugural major film project. Ebony continues to create work that is emotionally true, visually inventive, and fiercely human, guiding actors and stories toward full, lingering life.
