Carolina Alvarez is a writer, director, and producer based in Los Angeles whose work explores psychological horror, identity, and the female experience through visually immersive genre storytelling. A graduate of AMDA's BFA Musical Theatre program, she brings a multidisciplinary background in performance, directing, and producing to every project she leads.

Born in Queens, New York, to Polish and Colombian immigrant parents, Carolina's multicultural upbringing informs her fascination with identity, belonging, and the complex ways women navigate the expectations placed upon them.

In 2018, she co-founded Femme Regard Productions, a female-led production company dedicated to creating opportunities for women on both sides of the camera. She wrote, directed, and produced her debut feature, SYNC (2024), a sci-fi psychological thriller that earned multiple festival awards, received the ReFrame Stamp for gender equity, and secured domestic distribution with Buffalo 8.

Known for creating cinematic, visually ambitious work on independent budgets, Carolina combines meticulous preparation with bold, emotionally driven storytelling. She is currently directing Morning Shed, a 16mm body horror short film serving as the proof of concept for her next feature.
