Amy Wang is a Chinese-Australian filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Her unique perspective often as an outsider fuels her passion for stories about social isolation and the human condition.
Amy received her Masters as a directing fellow from the American Film Institute. She has participated in the Ryan Murphy Half Program where she was mentored by Executive Producer/Director Brad Buecker on American Horror Story. She is now 1 of 7 directors selected to participate in the 2019 Viacom Viewfinder Directors Program.
Her short film UNNATURAL won her Gold at the Young Director Award at Cannes Lions 2018, was nominated for the Grand Prix at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, won the Grand Jury Prize at Stony Brook Film Festival and received Honorable Mentions at Rochester Film Festival and Barcelona International Film Festival.
Her short script WA WA, detailing the experiences of a young girl at boarding school in Hangzhou, China, garnered her 1st prize at Bluecat Screenwriting Competition and was a finalist at Austin Film Festival, New Orleans Film Festival, Final Draft Big Break, Screencraft, Shore Scripts, Cinequest and Scriptapalooza.
Amy was featured on the Tracking Board “Young and Hungry” list of 2019 and her latest screenplay – WENDI has also been featured on The Hit List and The Black List.
