Alexandra Hsu is a Chinese American director/producer from Orange County, CA. She started making documentaries in college, and realized her passion in authentic storytelling. Her short films have focused on giving voice to untold stories. Alexandra has directed three short films Sophie (Hong Kong), Our Way Home (New York), and Rencontres Paysannes/Farmers Dating (France). Each of these films have screened at numerous film festivals around the world and have premiered at Oscar-qualifying film festivals including Austin FF, Foyle FF, HollyShorts, and BendFilm. She is currently submitting her NYU thesis film starring Emmy-nominated actor Michelle Ang, as well as a new short she was hired to direct Unwavering. Alexandra was chosen to direct a short film for the inaugural CBS Leadership Pipeline Challenge for the non-profit SafeBae. Alexandra was a resident in the SFFILM FilmHouse Residency (2019-2020), where they supported her feature, Queens, which was also a Finalist for the SFFILM Fall 2019 Westridge Grant. NBC News highlighted Alexandra as the Kearny Street Workshop Featured Artist in Film at the 20th APAture Arts Festival. In the last five years, Alexandra has been a part of the WIF Mentoring Program, AWD Directing Actors, Asia Society Asian Women Empowered Program, Unlock Her Potential, KSW Interdisciplinary Writers Lab, Cine Qua Non Lab Storylines, and Gold House Creators.
