AWD announces new Interim Executive Director

As reported in Variety, Alliance of Women Directors is proud to announce that Kylie Eaton has been named Interim Executive Director.

A longtime leader within the organization, Eaton is currently serving her third term on AWD’s Board of Directors and held the position of Co-Chair. She has played a pivotal role in AWD’s strategic growth—spearheading fundraising initiatives such as the organization’s recent successful auction and leading key program development. Eaton also founded and co-facilitates the Rising Director Fellowship, a yearlong intensive supporting 5–8 emerging directors with accomplished short-form portfolios who are preparing to transition into feature filmmaking.

In addition to her leadership within AWD, Eaton is an accomplished narrative director and writer known for telling grounded stories about women’s lives through the lens of genre film. Her commercial and branded content work includes campaigns for Capitol Records, Oliver Peoples, and Beach Body, garnering over 40 million views online.

“I’m honored to step into this role at such a critical moment, as AWD has long been a home for me as a filmmaker and advocate,” said Eaton. “I’m excited to continue building a stronger, more inclusive industry—one where women and gender-expansive directors are not just present, but shaping the future of storytelling.”

“Kylie has already proven her leadership abilities by serving with excellence as Board Co-Chair,” said Jennifer Warren, AWD founder and current Chair of the Board. “We are thankful for all she has done to advance AWD’s mission and look forward to her stewardship during this time of upheaval and transformation in the entertainment industry.”

AWD’s mission advocates to increase opportunities for women and gender-expansive directors working in the screened content industry through robust advocacy, craft development programs, and mentorship.
