Alliance of Women Directors’ 2025 Impact Report captures a year of meaningful growth, deeper community, and expanded opportunity for women and gender-expansive directors across film, television, and new media. As the industry continues to grapple with persistent inequities, our work remains focused on one core belief: there is no shortage of talent, only a shortage of access. This report reflects how we are actively working to close that gap.
Over the past year, AWD scaled its programs, grew its membership, and increased the resources flowing directly to filmmakers. From our Career Advancement Program to our Mentorship-based Fellowships, we supported directors at every stage of their careers, helping them refine their craft, build industry relationships, and move projects forward. We also expanded our fiscal sponsorship program, enabling more projects to secure funding and reach audiences.
This report is not just a reflection of what we accomplished, but of the community that made it possible. Our members, mentors, partners, and supporters are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are building a stronger, more equitable pipeline for directors, and creating space for more voices, perspectives, and stories to be seen and heard.
