Kaye Kittrell

High School was about acting, but at university, KAYE KITTRELL received a BFA with Honors in Studio Art then moved to Washington, DC, where she worked for a year on the staff of a U.S. Senator. Nights, she studied acting and soon relocated to New York to pursue acting full-time. Kaye studied with the legendary acting teacher, director and founder of the American Place Theatre, Wynn Handman, as well as at The Ensemble Studio Theatre, while working on soaps, commercials and plays. In Los Angeles, Kaye acted on TV shows such as The Gilmore Girls, Alias, Misconceptions, Becker, Titus, Bold & the Beautiful, Wings, Cheers, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and General Hospital and has been a principal performer in more than 100 commercials. She performed lead roles in numerous short films, such as Crystal Heart Award winner The Snow Child, directed by Marc Marriott, and in 2006, wrapped a five-week run in Triptych at the Matrix Theatre in West Hollywood starring opposite Susan Clark. In 2009, Kaye played a lead role in the short film thriller, Pawn, by Jeremiah Friedman. In 2010, Kaye modeled in Tekturna's new active lifestyle print campaign for DRAFTFCB Advertising Agency, New York. Kaye just acted in the WIF PSA for Operation Gratitude, directed by Romell Foster-Owens, playing a teacher.

Kaye's first short, which she wrote, directed, acted in and produced with Shari Belafonte was Betty's Treats, an official selection in 20 festivals with three awards. http://bettystreatsmovie.com/. Joining a women directors group, GRIT, was the impetus for Kaye to make her own film. Along with nine GRIT directors, Kaye is in post production on a web series, Juanita Saves the World, about a Brazilian-American maid who's out to save the planet. Kaye is also a member of the Alliance of Women Directors, AWD.
An accomplished photographer, Kaye is completing a 10-year portrait book project entitled Old Friends, dedicated to her mentor, renowned New York fashion photographer, James Moore. Kaye traveled to 13 states and photographed over 70 of her old friends on a Rolleiflex twin-lens, then developed the prints in her darkroom. In 2008, she completed a photojournalism project Transforming Lives: The Work of Taylor Kevin Isaacs. Over the course of a year, Kaye photographed physical therapist Isaacs working with 30 disabled clients including Teri Garr, and is in 2009, worked with the LAPD, photographing for Operation Progress http://operationprogress.com/, which gives scholarships to inner-city kids.
